Delhi Transport Minister Criticizes AAP Legislators for Absence During Assembly Proceedings

New Delhi, March 28: Delhi’s Health and Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators on Friday. He stated that these lawmakers were absent during crucial proceedings, particularly when the CAG report was presented.

Speaking to the media after the conclusion of the Delhi Assembly’s budget session, Minister Singh described the opposition’s behavior as irresponsible, undermining the democratic process.

He alleged that opposition legislators deliberately stayed away to avoid discussions on issues like the ‘Sheesh Mahal,’ which pertains to the renovation of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence.

“The opposition was aware that topics such as ‘Sheesh Mahal’ would arise during the presentation of the CAG and PAC reports, which is why they chose to be absent. This raises serious questions about accountability,” he remarked.

The minister emphasized that transparency and accountability are paramount in the government’s functioning, and the facts presented in the assembly will continue to reach the public.

Discussing the government’s development agenda, he revealed that the 2026-27 Delhi budget allocates ₹13,034 crores for the health sector and ₹12,613 crores for transportation.

He highlighted plans to strengthen public health infrastructure, complete long-pending hospital projects, expand medical education, and develop integrated health facilities.

In the transport sector, there are plans to promote green mobility through the expansion of electric buses, investment in the metro, and the implementation of the new EV Policy 2.0.

Minister Singh praised Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, stating that this budget clearly indicates a direction towards inclusive development, improved services, and enhanced quality of life for Delhi residents.
