Srinagar, April 3: Imam Umar Ahmad Ilyasi, the head of the All India Imam Organization, stated on Friday that the changes in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 have transformed the region into a model for the entire country.
In a media interaction, Ilyasi highlighted the visible impact of efforts by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kashmir. He remarked, “Today, those who once threw stones now hold pens. Tourism is rapidly increasing, although there was a slight setback after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.”
Ilyasi emphasized, “Kashmir is safe for everyone, and everyone should visit. Tourism is back on track, and Kashmir is swiftly progressing towards development.”
He also praised Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, the head of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, for her significant contributions to making Kashmir a model for all.
Ilyasi issued a warning to neighboring Pakistan, asserting that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir will eventually be integrated into Jammu and Kashmir. He stated, “The people there are witnessing the development in Kashmir and are pleased. They desire a referendum to join India. With Allah’s grace, their ‘homecoming’ will happen soon.”
Regarding the conflict in West Asia, he remarked that war benefits no one and causes widespread harm. He expressed hope that Prime Minister Modi would mediate to bring an end to the conflict soon.
Imam Umar Ahmad Ilyasi leads the All India Imam Organization, the largest imam organization in the world, representing nearly five lakh imams in India. He is known for promoting interfaith dialogue, peace, and the ‘Nation First’ ideology.
