Kishan Reddy Urges Kerala Voters: Congress Promises Are False

Hyderabad, April 4: Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has accused the Congress party of failing to fulfill its electoral promises in Telangana. He urged the people of Kerala not to trust the party’s “false promises” in the upcoming assembly elections.

In an open letter addressed to the people of Kerala, Reddy highlighted the six guarantees and other commitments made by the Congress party in Telangana. The BJP MP from Telangana stated, “The experience in Telangana serves as a crucial lesson. Promises made during elections may sound appealing, but without proper planning and financial discipline, they remain mere promises.”

He referenced advertisements published by the Congress party in Kerala, claiming to have fulfilled promises in Telangana, and urged the public not to be misled by such claims. Reddy emphasized the importance of examining what has transpired in states where similar promises were made before placing trust in them.

“Kerala deserves a government that delivers development, financial stability, and honest administration, rather than just promises made during elections. Kerala, known as ‘God’s Own Country,’ should not allow these ‘political tourists’—who have deceived people elsewhere with unfulfilled promises—to repeat the same here,” he wrote.

Reddy encouraged the people of Kerala to carefully consider the facts and make a wise decision for the future of the state. He asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the NDA is the only option that has stood by the people of Kerala and fulfilled its commitments. He called on the public to give the BJP-led alliance a chance to serve them.

He criticized Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s recent visit to Kerala on April 1, describing it as filled with thoughtless statements that failed to resonate with the aware public. Reddy claimed that in his speeches, the Congress leader attempted to portray the Telangana government as one that has delivered on its manifesto promises, suggesting it enjoys unwavering support from the people of Telangana.

The Union Minister alleged that the Congress party came to power in Telangana based on six guarantees and over 420 promises made to farmers, women, youth, and the poor. He claimed these guarantees are entirely false.

Reddy pointed out that the promise to provide farmers with ₹15,000 per acre annually and ₹12,000 in financial aid to agricultural laborers has not been fulfilled, even after several crop seasons. He noted that promises to increase the minimum support price (MSP) for ten crops and provide a ₹500 bonus for paddy have also gone unfulfilled.

He mentioned that the promise of waiving farmers’ debts remains unfulfilled, with approximately 4 million farmers still waiting for this benefit, as the government now claims it lacks sufficient funds for the initiative.

Reddy also highlighted the unfulfilled promises made to women, including ₹2,500 monthly support, 10 grams of gold, and ₹1 lakh financial aid for families below the poverty line. He stated that no woman has received these benefits.

Furthermore, he remarked, “The economic situation in Telangana has deteriorated; the state’s total debt and liabilities have exceeded ₹10 lakh crore. Many grand promises were made without any proper economic plan, plunging the state deeper into debt.”
