New Delhi, April 3: The Delhi Police have made a significant breakthrough in combating the illegal hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders amid a gas shortage. An individual was arrested in Bawana, located in the Outer North district, with a large cache of unlawfully stored LPG cylinders.
According to police reports, a tip-off regarding the illegal storage and transportation of LPG cylinders was received on Thursday. This information was promptly shared with senior officials, leading to the formation of a dedicated team. The team set up a blockade near District Park in Bawana. Around 4 PM, they noticed a vehicle approaching the area. The informant indicated that this vehicle was transporting illegally obtained LPG cylinders.
The vehicle was stopped and inspected. During the investigation, the driver identified himself as Anil. A search of the vehicle revealed 27 LPG cylinders, including 13 domestic and 14 commercial cylinders. Among these, 10 domestic and 7 commercial cylinders were found to be filled.
During ongoing questioning, the accused disclosed that he had stored additional LPG cylinders in two rooms and a metal container located in Sector-2 near Bawana. Acting on this information, the police team conducted a search at the specified location, recovering an additional 48 cylinders. The investigation revealed that all cylinders were stored without any safety measures or legal permits.
In total, the police seized 75 LPG cylinders from the accused. Police officials stated that the cylinders were illegally stored and transported at an unauthorized location, posing a serious public safety risk due to the flammable nature of LPG gas. The accused has been arrested, and further legal action is underway.
