Mathura, April 3: In a joint operation early Friday morning, police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) engaged in a shootout with two notorious criminals in the Barsana area of Mathura district. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and has been hospitalized for treatment.
The police recovered an unregistered motorcycle and illegal firearms from the criminals. According to reports, the Barsana police and SOG were conducting checks in search of wanted criminals when they received a tip-off. They set up a blockade near the Bharna Khurd minor. When the police attempted to stop two suspicious individuals approaching from the Sahar to Kamai Nala direction, the suspects opened fire, intending to harm the police.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, Jitu, also known as Jitendra (33), from Nandgaon, was shot in the right leg and fell to the ground. His accomplice, Rajveer (40), son of Gopal, was apprehended at the scene. Jitu was promptly sent to a nearby district hospital for medical attention.
The police seized a TVS Ronin motorcycle without a registration number, two .315 bore pistols, three spent cartridges, and two unused cartridges from the suspects. Authorities indicated that both individuals are seasoned criminals, wanted in connection with serious charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. They have prior records, including attempts to commit murder.
The Barsana police stated that necessary legal actions are being taken against the arrested suspects. Investigations are ongoing to uncover their criminal history and network.
