Mumbai, April 3: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath entered the electoral fray in Assam on Friday. Addressing a rally in Barpeta in support of NDA candidate Deepak Kumar Das, CM Yogi launched a strong attack on Congress and the UDF.
He stated that Congress had already abandoned the battlefield before the elections, and it was time to throw the UDF into the Bay of Bengal. Yogi urged the people of Assam to once again support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in forming the government. He emphasized the need to expel infiltrators and protect Assam’s demographics. The NDA is committed to ensuring that Assam does not become a land for love jihad and land jihad. He assured that measures are being put in place to identify and remove every infiltrator.
The Chief Minister declared that the double-engine government is determined to prevent Assam from becoming a hub for infiltrators and will expel rioters. He accused Congress and the UDF of disrespecting India and its values whenever they had the chance. He claimed that the UDF is the origin of infiltration in Assam, aiming to seize power through infiltrators, while Congress is colluding to undermine Assam’s culture. In contrast, the NDA government is working to preserve Assam’s cultural heritage while thwarting attempts to alter its demographics.
CM Yogi also extended his wishes to the people of Assam for the Rongali Bihu festival. He described Assam as a land of pride for India, noting that every Indian comes to visit Maa Kamakhya. He highlighted Assam’s spiritual, cultural, and rich traditions, which have played a significant role in building “One India, Great India.” The Vaishnavite tradition, represented by the revered figures of Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhav Dev, has transformed Assam into a land of unity, devotion, and humanity. Kaziranga National Park, known for its rhinos and biodiversity, is also a point of pride. The Ahom dynasty, he noted, defended India against foreign invaders, contributing to the rich culture of Assam.
Yogi criticized the Congress government for awarding the Bharat Ratna only to a select few families. He pointed out that the late Bhupen Hazarika, a symbol of Assam’s music and culture, was not honored by Congress. Instead, he received the Bharat Ratna from the Modi government in 2019, while Gopinath Bordoloi was awarded by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 1999. The NDA government, under BJP leadership, has promoted culture, tradition, and heritage, providing benefits of governance to villages, the poor, farmers, women, and youth without discrimination. In contrast, Congress-led governments have fostered chaos, riots, curfews, and infiltration in Assam for 60 years, undermining security and heritage.
The Chief Minister engaged with voters, stating that wherever the NDA government exists, under PM Modi’s leadership, there is development and respect for heritage. He recalled the movement for Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, noting that devotees from Assam participated, chanting that they would build the temple. However, Congress denied the existence of Ram. When the double-engine government was formed in Uttar Pradesh, the long-awaited dream was realized with the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.
CM Yogi asserted that Uttar Pradesh is now free from riots and curfews. There are no disturbances on the streets, and any attempts at rioting result in property confiscation and redistribution to the marginalized. He stated that infiltrators and rioters have no rights. He accused Congress and the UDF of playing with Assam’s culture, attempting to change demographics by settling infiltrators and seizing the rights, rations, homes, and lands of the people of Assam. The NDA government is now working to identify and expel each infiltrator, while also advancing the construction of the Maa Kamakhya corridor under PM Modi’s leadership and promoting development under CM Sarma.
