Major Bust by Mumbai ATS: Two Arrested in Khair Wood Smuggling Case

Mumbai, April 3: The Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has achieved a significant breakthrough in a case involving the smuggling of Khair wood. Two suspects have been arrested, including Aqib Nachan, the son of Saqib Nachan, who is linked to ISIS.

The Mumbai ATS reported that the arrests were made on March 29. The two individuals apprehended are Aqib Nachan and another suspect identified as Sahil Chikhlekar. Both were presented before a special court and have been remanded to ATS custody until April 6 for further investigation.

This case was registered on July 24, 2025, at the ATS Kalachowki police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Charges include theft, fraud, criminal conspiracy, possession of suspicious property, and other related offenses.

Authorities indicated that these arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a smuggling network allegedly connected to individuals involved in terrorist activities. Investigative agencies are also probing potential links to terror funding. This scrutiny arises from allegations against Aqib Nachan’s father, Saqib Nachan, who was accused of being an ISIS operative. However, Saqib Nachan is now deceased.

Investigators suspect that funds generated from this smuggling racket may have been utilized for anti-national activities. Agencies are examining possible connections between the Khair wood smuggling case and a suspected terror funding network, which may involve financial and logistical ties.
