Delhi Police Detain 361 Illegal Foreign Nationals in Dwarka Operation

New Delhi: Dwarka police conducted a special operation in 2025, identifying 361 foreign nationals residing illegally in the national capital. These individuals were sent to detention centres following their apprehension.

The action targeted foreign nationals living in India without valid visas and using the country’s resources unlawfully. Various police stations across Dwarka district, along with specialized teams, played key roles in this operation.

The highest number of deportations were carried out by the Anti Narcotics Cell, which detained 109 individuals, followed by Dabri police station with 76 and the Special Staff with 54 apprehensions. Other significant contributions came from Uttam Nagar police station (48), Bindapur police station (40), and Mohan Garden police station (19). These teams collectively arrested the illegal residents and sent them to detention centres.

Among the detained, the majority were from Nigeria (187), Bangladesh (82), and Ivory Coast (26), with others from Myanmar, Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, and additional countries. Notably, several women and children were also found among those living illegally.

In December 2025, two Nigerian nationals were deported after being presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which ordered their deportation. Following the legal process, they were sent to detention centres for repatriation to their countries.

Police officials stated that Dwarka district police will continue their crackdown on illegal foreign residents. The teams are actively gathering intelligence and accelerating deportation procedures to handle this issue effectively.

Earlier, on New Year’s Eve, two Nigerian citizens were arrested in Hauz Khas village for overstaying their travel and business visas. Amit Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West District, confirmed that Mirasel Onyeka and Moses Chinoso were apprehended while heading to a New Year’s party.

The South West district’s special operation cell has been instructed to intensify intelligence gathering and take strict action against foreigners residing illegally or beyond their permitted duration.
