Delhi Police Arrests Notorious Criminal for Disturbing Holi Celebrations with Firearms

New Delhi, April 4: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has apprehended a habitual offender who caused chaos during Holi celebrations while under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was found in possession of two country-made pistols and four live cartridges.

The incident occurred in the Bhalswa Dairy area, where the individual threatened people with the firearms and used abusive language, creating a scene. A video of this incident went viral on social media. Taking cognizance of the situation, a special team from the Crime Branch, under the supervision of ACP Umesh Barthwal, was deployed to identify and capture the suspect.

Inspector Ram Pal led the team, which included Sub-Inspectors Pramod Kumar, Amit Kumar, Mukesh, Hemant, ASI Narendra, ASI Amit, ASI Amit Guliya, ASI Pankaj, ASI Sanjay, ASI Ramdas, ASI Ankit, HC Dharmendra, HC Yashpal, and Constable Tejpal.

The suspect, identified as Shivam alias Shiva, is a resident of Mukundpur. On March 4, 2026, he had a heated argument with complainant Arvind Kumar Pandey over the removal of a car in Mukundpur Part-2. While intoxicated, he initially resorted to verbal abuse, then returned shortly after with two firearms and fired a shot. His intention was to cause direct harm, but the complainant managed to escape to his home. Additionally, the suspect instilled fear in the neighborhood and damaged both the complainant’s and a neighbor’s vehicles.

The police promptly registered a case. Utilizing continuous technical surveillance and local intelligence, the Crime Branch team traced the suspect’s location. They received information that he might be around UER-II, Delhi. Acting on this tip-off, a special operation was conducted on April 3, leading to his successful arrest.

During the arrest, two country-made pistols and four live cartridges were recovered from the suspect. Both firearms were already loaded with one live round each, which were safely removed. A separate case has been registered under the Arms Act concerning this incident.

Investigations revealed that Shivam has a history of involvement in violent incidents. He admitted to firing a weapon during a dispute in 2023 and was also implicated in the murder case of Amit alias Langda in 2024. Furthermore, several FIRs have been filed against him in the past.
