
New Delhi, April 9: A 250-member youth delegation from Jammu and Kashmir, participating in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ ‘Know Your Nation’ program, met Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Vice President’s residence in New Delhi on Thursday.
The ‘Know Your Nation’ initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Jammu and Kashmir government. Its aim is to enhance national unity by providing the youth of Jammu and Kashmir with opportunities to explore different parts of India.
Addressing the delegation, the Vice President expressed his delight in engaging with such energetic, talented, and determined youth from Jammu and Kashmir. He reminisced about his visit to Srinagar last month for the convocation ceremony at the University of Kashmir, highlighting significant progress in women’s development and empowerment in the region.
Radhakrishnan also spoke about the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team’s historic victory in the Ranji Trophy. He noted that the leadership of women in education and the achievements of young cricketers reflect the progressive direction in which the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are shaping their future.
He praised the ‘Know Your Nation’ program, stating that such initiatives not only connect youth to the idea of a shared national identity but also foster confidence, awareness, and aspiration, promoting the spirit of ‘One India, Great India.’
Describing Jammu and Kashmir as a land of extraordinary natural beauty and rich culture, he emphasized its potential to become a major global tourist destination. He encouraged the youth to believe in their capabilities, stay connected to their roots, and work collectively to make Jammu and Kashmir a symbol of harmony, development, and inspiration for the nation.
The Vice President expressed happiness over the outstanding performance of students from Jammu and Kashmir in civil service, IIT, and IIM entrance examinations. He urged students to stay away from drugs and encourage their peers to do the same, stressing that healthy youth are the foundation of a strong and progressive nation.
He called on the young participants to stand confidently, maintain self-belief, and take pride in contributing to the creation of a developed and self-reliant India. He reiterated that the vision of a developed India can only be realized when every state progresses.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh was also present at the event. While addressing the delegation, he recalled the developmental changes that have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He noted that the aspirations of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir have increased, with many excelling in various fields.
