BJP Criticizes Gehlot Government for Neglecting Rajasthans Development

Jaipur, April 10: In a significant press conference held at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state headquarters, key leaders including Satish Poonia, in charge of Haryana, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, and Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham outlined the development initiatives undertaken by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s government over the past two years.

They shared insights on major infrastructure projects and important announcements. Satish Poonia revealed that the central cabinet has approved two major projects for Rajasthan.

The first project is the Pachpadra Refinery, with a revised cost of ₹79,459 crores. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate this project on April 21. Poonia expressed optimism that this initiative will boost economic development in western Rajasthan and create substantial employment opportunities.

He criticized previous delays, attributing them to the inefficiencies of past governments, and claimed that the current administration has achieved significant cost savings.

Regarding the Jaipur Metro Phase-2, he noted that this project spans 41 kilometers, significantly larger than Phase-1. It will connect Sitapura to the Vishwakarma Industrial Area. The estimated cost of this project is ₹13,037 crores, with equal financial support from the central government.

Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa emphasized progress on the ₹95,000 crore Ramjal Setu Link Project, stating that work is advancing rapidly. He mentioned that the associated infrastructure, including the Navnera Barrage and Isarda Dam, has been completed. Meanwhile, projects worth ₹9,416.70 crores are underway for the Ramgarh Barrage and related facilities. These initiatives are expected to benefit 17 districts, irrigate approximately 400,000 hectares of land, and impact around 30 million people.

He also highlighted a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth ₹35,000 crores signed under the Yamuna Water Agreement, with ongoing work on the detailed project report (DPR). Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 1.5 million rural households have received tap water connections in the past two years, with an expenditure of ₹11,440 crores.

In the energy sector, he pointed out achievements that include signing MoUs worth ₹193,000 crores to generate 42,438 megawatts of electricity. This positions Rajasthan among the leading states in solar energy and the PM-KUSUM scheme.

Additionally, significant progress has been made in infrastructure and welfare initiatives. Under the PM Awas Yojana (Gramin), 214,000 homes have been completed. The Swachh Bharat Mission has led to the construction of 291,000 individual toilets and 5,027 community toilets.

Through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, ₹12,410 crores have been transferred to 7.6 million farmers.

State Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham remarked, “The Chief Minister brings new projects from Delhi to Rajasthan, while Gehlot only goes to ‘recharge’ himself.” He asserted that Rajasthan has made considerable progress across various sectors in the last two years.

He added that the ‘double-engine’ governance model has accelerated development, with the current government focusing on public welfare and infrastructure growth.
