Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides Shares a Light Moment with PM Modi

New Delhi, May 22: Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides shared a light-hearted and friendly moment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Before their discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, President Christodoulides took a selfie with PM Modi.

The two leaders warmly welcomed each other ahead of their meeting at Hyderabad House. Following their greetings, Christodoulides captured the moment with his mobile phone.

Previously, several prominent foreign leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, have also taken selfies with PM Modi.

On Friday morning, President Christodoulides paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also met with President Christodoulides, praising his positive attitude and guidance in enhancing India-Cyprus relations and India-EU cooperation. After their meeting, Jaishankar expressed his happiness on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “It was a pleasure to meet President Christodoulides of the Republic of Cyprus in New Delhi today. I appreciate his positive thoughts and guidance for strengthening India-Cyprus relations and India-EU cooperation.”

President Christodoulides arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, where he was welcomed by Union Minister Ajay Tamta at the airport.

The Ministry of External Affairs announced on social media that President Christodoulides received a warm welcome upon his arrival in New Delhi. After visiting Mumbai, he was greeted with formal honors and a guard of honor by Minister Tamta.

According to the MEA, this visit aims to build on the positive atmosphere created by PM Modi’s trip to Cyprus in June 2025, demonstrating a shared commitment to strengthening the India-Cyprus partnership.

President Christodoulides is also set to meet with President Droupadi Murmu, who is hosting an official banquet in his honor.

Before arriving in New Delhi, President Christodoulides visited Mumbai, where he rang the bell at the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) alongside Chairman Srinivasan Injeti and MD and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan.
