EAM Jaishankar Meets Cyprus President Nikos to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

New Delhi, May 22: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides in New Delhi to discuss enhancing India-Cyprus relations and India-EU cooperation.

Dr. Jaishankar expressed his pleasure in a post on social media platform X, stating, “I was very happy to meet President Nikos Christodoulides in New Delhi. I greatly value his positive thoughts and guidance for strengthening our bilateral relations and India-EU cooperation. I eagerly await his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to further advance our strategic partnership.”

Earlier, President Christodoulides paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on X, “President Nikos Christodoulides paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat on Friday morning. Gandhi’s eternal ideals of peace and non-violence continue to inspire humanity worldwide.”

President Christodoulides arrived in the national capital on Thursday, where he was welcomed at the airport by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta.

Before arriving in New Delhi, Christodoulides visited Mumbai as part of his India tour. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Cyprus’s Foreign Minister, Transport Minister, senior officials, and business leaders. This visit is expected to further strengthen economic and strategic ties between India and Cyprus.

Earlier on Thursday, Christodoulides rang the bell at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in Mumbai alongside NSE Chairman Srinivasan Injeti and Managing Director and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan.
