Jaipur, August 14 (Kiran News): In a major crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Headquarters’ Jaipur Nagar IV team on Thursday arrested Narayan Verma, Inspector at the Office of the Deputy Registrar, Urban Cooperative Societies, Mini Secretariat, Jaipur, for accepting a bribe of ₹2.75 lakh.

Smita Srivastava, Acting Director General of Police, ACB, informed that a complainant had approached the Jaipur Nagar IV team alleging that Narayan Verma had demanded a bribe in exchange for securing a stay order related to two residential plots. These plots, located at Shrinath Enclave Second, Hargun ki Nangal alias Charanwala, Diggi Road, Tehsil Sanganer, Jaipur, were developed by the Hari Nagar Grih Nirman Sahkari Samiti.
According to the complaint, Verma allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh per plot (a total of ₹4 lakh) — ₹2 lakh each for the Deputy Registrar and ₹1 lakh for himself.
During the verification process, ₹74,000 was initially received. While collecting the rest of the bribe, Verma reportedly took the complainant through nearly 10 km of streets near Jyoti Rao Phule Chauraha, Swaij Farm area, before finally stopping near the road leading to Gurjar Ki Thadi, where he accepted ₹2.75 lakh in bribe.
Acting swiftly under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Gyan Prakash Naval, the ACB Jaipur Nagar IV team conducted a trap operation and arrested Inspector Narayan Verma red-handed. Further interrogation is underway regarding the involvement of others.
