Controversy Erupts During Train Inauguration in Mau, Accusations Fly Between Political Parties

Mau, June 20: A new train service launch event in Uttar Pradesh‘s Mau turned contentious on Friday, as tensions flared between members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rajiv Rai, an SP MP from Ghazipur, accused the BJP of inviting criminal elements to the event. Meanwhile, BJP leader and state minister A.K. Sharma hailed the new rail services as a significant step towards regional development.

Rajiv Rai claimed that the event was infiltrated by goons who were misbehaving with both the public and police officers. He shared documents related to the incident on social media.

After the event, Rai spoke to the media, asserting that some goons were present, causing disturbances among the attendees and even clashing with each other. “These goons should not be under any illusion; their records are known,” he stated. He urged the authorities to take action against these individuals, emphasizing that if no action is taken, the political landscape will change.

Rai criticized A.K. Sharma, suggesting that he came to be a leader in Purvanchal but ended up as a leader of goons. He also mentioned that he was provided security by the administration, which ensured his safe passage to and from the event. He questioned why individuals with criminal records were allowed to attend without facing repercussions.

In response, A.K. Sharma noted that he had requested additional trains from the railway minister, and the region has now received three new services. He highlighted the operation of the new MEMU train from Douhari Ghat to Varanasi, a special train from Mau to Anand Vihar (Delhi), and a new superfast train from Chapra to Anand Vihar via Mau.
