
Beijing, July 2: The closing ceremony of the second Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) exchange program for young and mid-level military officials took place on July 1 in Shanghai. This initiative marks a significant step by China towards implementing practical cooperation in defense and security within the SCO framework.
On July 1, coinciding with the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, military officials and defense representatives from 16 countries, including SCO member states, observer nations, and dialogue partners, visited the memorial hall of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party alongside representatives from the SCO Secretariat.
The exchange program ran from June 25 to July 1. Experts from the Military Science Academy, National Defense University, and the Eurasian Studies Institute of the China Institute of International Studies delivered lectures and participated in discussions on topics such as “Practicing the Shanghai Spirit and Building a Shared Future for the SCO Community,” “Four Global Initiatives and Regional Defense and Security Cooperation,” and “The Development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”
