Concerns Raised Over Mamata Banerjees Safety Amid Election Tensions

Mumbai, March 30: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed fears for her safety amid the ongoing assembly elections. In response to her statement, Congress leader Hussain Dalwai from Maharashtra has voiced his concerns.

In a conversation in Mumbai, Dalwai remarked on the violent atmosphere created in Bengal, stating, “Anything can happen anywhere. They propagate violence everywhere. It’s not just Bengal; they create unrest everywhere.” He believes Banerjee’s concerns for her safety are valid.

Dalwai added, “I don’t think CM Banerjee is making this claim lightly. The police should provide her with complete protection.”

Addressing Banerjee’s allegations that the BJP government would restrict non-vegetarian food consumption, Dalwai acknowledged the point, noting that followers of Sanatan Dharma do not consume mutton or fish. However, he emphasized that Bengalis traditionally eat fish and that there should be no restrictions on what people choose to eat.

On the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Dalwai commented on the rising prices of gas cylinders, stating that while Congress has not made any official remarks regarding the Gulf crisis, there is a palpable sense of fear.

He asserted that if the Indian government takes appropriate steps, the conflict in the Middle East could be resolved. “Had our government taken a firm stand at the onset of the war, it wouldn’t have lasted this long,” he said, highlighting the plight of many Indians stranded in Arab countries and emphasizing that their safety should be the government’s responsibility.

Regarding Amit Shah’s statements on illegal immigration, Dalwai stated that while immigrants should be expelled, it is crucial to avoid discrimination against Muslims in this context.
