New Delhi, April 4: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is set to embark on a significant election campaign across five states: Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. His mission aims to strengthen the BJP’s organizational framework and farmer-centric agenda through a series of public rallies.
Chouhan will kick off his campaign on April 5 in Assam, addressing gatherings in the Bokakhat and Naduaar assembly constituencies. He will then travel to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. On April 6, he plans to energize the party’s campaign in Kerala with public events and a press conference in the Kannadi Panchayat area of Palakkad district. Following this, he will participate in various programs in Rajasthan and West Bengal, further expanding the BJP’s electoral presence from east to south and west.
According to his itinerary, Chouhan will depart from Delhi to Guwahati on the morning of April 5. He will then reach the Behora Air Strip by helicopter to address an election rally at the Behora Tea Estate in the Bokakhat assembly constituency, engaging directly with voters in support of BJP candidate Atul Bora. Afterward, he will land at the Tupia Panchgaon Mini Stadium in Sonitpur district for a second rally in the Naduaar assembly constituency, where he will appeal for votes for party candidate Padma Hazarika and discuss booth-level strategies with local workers.
After his events in Assam, Chouhan will return to Guwahati and fly to Bengaluru. During his overnight stay, he will hold a review meeting with ICAR institutions in Bengaluru and nearby areas, focusing on agricultural research and its practical applications.
On the morning of April 6, Chouhan will head from Bengaluru to Coimbatore, where the agenda will revolve around the electoral landscape and organizational strategies in Tamil Nadu. He will connect with party officials and work on enhancing voter outreach in Coimbatore and surrounding areas. In light of the Kerala assembly elections, Chouhan’s entire day on April 6 will be focused in Palakkad district. He will arrive at the Marcy College Ground via helicopter from Coimbatore Airport to address a public event supporting BJP candidate Shobha Surendran for the Palakkad assembly seat. During this event, he will highlight the central government’s commitments to farmer welfare, rural development, employment, and infrastructure. Following this, he will engage with the media at a press conference at KPM Hotel in Palakkad, before returning to Coimbatore by helicopter in the afternoon.
While in Rajasthan, Chouhan will preside over the first zonal agricultural conference for the western region in Jaipur on April 7. Representatives from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa will discuss the challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector. This conference will feature Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, agricultural ministers from allied states, senior agricultural officials, scientists, progressive farmers, farmer organizations, FPOs, startups, and private sector representatives. They will review the progress of key central initiatives, including the Self-Reliant Pulses Mission, National Edible Oil Mission, Natural Farming Mission, and Digital Agriculture Mission, and develop a roadmap for the coming years to enhance farmers’ income, promote technology-driven farming, and strengthen the value chain through a new chapter of central-state partnership.
During his campaign in West Bengal on April 9, Chouhan will hold rallies and outreach programs in areas connected to agriculture, tea plantations, fisheries, and the rural economy, aiming to convey the BJP’s message to a broad audience.
