Shimla, June 20: In a recent statement, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhu criticized the BJP for ongoing paper leak incidents related to the NEET examination. He emphasized that during Congress governments, such leaks were nonexistent. “We observe that under BJP rule, paper leaks occur frequently,” he stated during a media interaction in Shimla.
Sukhu pointed out that the central BJP government has seen a rise in paper leak incidents, contrasting this with the Congress era when such issues were rare. He urged the central government to seriously consider the reasons behind these leaks. “Millions of our youth work tirelessly to study. Every young person dreams of passing the exam to become a doctor and serve the nation,” he added.
He recalled similar issues during the BJP’s previous tenure in Himachal Pradesh, where papers were sold by the Subordinate Selection Board, and a police recruitment paper was also leaked. At that time, former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur did not initiate an investigation. “After taking office, we dissolved this corrupt board and took action to imprison those involved,” Sukhu remarked. To support NEET students, the government is providing free travel on HRTC buses.
Regarding monsoon preparations, the Chief Minister stated that the government has learned from past experiences and is fully prepared to face the upcoming season. He noted that during past disasters, valley bridges were established rapidly to restore roads, facilitating relief and rescue operations.
Sukhu instructed the administration to remain vigilant and ready to handle any emergencies. He emphasized that the government’s goal is to minimize loss of life and property during the monsoon and ensure prompt relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts in case of disasters.
He also addressed the proposed Medical Device Park, criticizing BJP leaders for promoting it. He explained that the park would offer land to industries at a rate of one rupee per square meter and electricity at three rupees per unit for ten years, while the state purchases electricity at seven rupees per unit during winter. “Himachal’s precious land cannot be sold at throwaway prices. Selling land worth 5,000 crores for just one crore is not in the state’s interest,” he asserted. He emphasized that as Chief Minister, he will not compromise the state’s resources or the rights of its citizens. The welfare of 7.5 million residents remains the top priority.
