
Jammu, June 2: Two incidents of cloudbursts have occurred in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. Fortunately, there are no reports of casualties.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, shared the news on the social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday. He mentioned that he had just spoken with Kishtwar’s Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Sharma. The first incident took place in the Gahan area of Sarathan, while the second was reported from Machipal.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that there have been no injuries or damage to property in either location. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal (JKAS), confirmed that no reports of loss of life or property have been received so far.
He added that teams from the District Red Cross, police, and revenue department have been dispatched to the affected areas. These teams are assessing the situation on-site. Reports have emerged of road closures, and efforts are underway to clear and reopen the affected roads as quickly as possible, with staff and machinery already deployed.
The district administration has activated additional measures for monitoring and relief operations. Officials from revenue, disaster management, police, and other relevant departments are on high alert, continuously monitoring the affected and surrounding areas. Mobile patrol teams and field staff are in constant contact with local residents to assess the situation and provide assistance wherever needed. My office is also maintaining regular communication.
