Hardoi, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Residents of Kuiya village in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, are experiencing a significant transformation in their daily lives due to the central government’s ambitious Har Ghar Jal scheme. This initiative, part of the Jal Jeevan Mission, has brought clean water directly to their homes, eliminating the hours previously spent waiting for water.
Local women shared their struggles before the scheme was implemented. They relied on wells and public taps, often standing in long queues for hours to collect water. This task consumed much of their day, leaving little time for other responsibilities.
With the new water supply system, daily chores such as cooking, washing clothes, and cleaning dishes have become much easier. The time saved allows women to focus more on family and childcare. Many villagers have expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the positive changes brought by the Har Ghar Jal scheme.
Manoj, a local resident, highlighted the difficulties faced before the mission’s introduction. “We had to rely on wells or public taps, which was a hassle. Since the Jal Jeevan Mission started, life has become much easier. Women no longer need to carry water,” he said.
Another villager, Ram Sahay, noted the convenience of having water delivered directly to homes three times a day, eliminating the need to draw water from a well using a bucket and rope.
Ranjit Kumar remarked on the ease of accessing water now that taps are installed in their homes. “Women no longer need to go outside for water. It has become very convenient,” he said, thanking the Prime Minister for the initiative.
Ruby Devi, a local woman, expressed her joy over the newfound access to water. “We used to face many difficulties, but now that we have taps in our homes, all those problems have disappeared. Water comes three times a day,” she said.
A young woman named Sheetal also shared her relief, stating that they no longer need to operate hand pumps for water, which has made life much more comfortable.
The village head, Mewar Ram Rathore, mentioned that the population of Kuiya is around 3,000, and every household now has a tap connection under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He explained that previously, the limited number of taps led to overcrowding and the risk of contaminated water. The construction of water tanks has ensured the availability of clean drinking water for the entire village.
Rathore noted a decrease in illnesses due to improved water quality and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi. He highlighted that their village was among the first to receive a water tank under the scheme, which has also created employment opportunities for locals in maintenance and operations.
The water tank operates on solar energy and functions automatically, providing water at scheduled times throughout the day.
