
Ramnathapuram, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : In a tragic incident in Ramnathapuram district, a female head constable lost her life while on duty. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Head Constable M. Kanagi, aged 34, and announced a financial assistance of 30 lakh rupees for her family.
Kanagi was stationed at the Parthibanur police station and was on duty at the outpost of the Paramkudi government hospital on September 28. During her shift, a dispute erupted between two groups who had been admitted for treatment after a prior altercation.
As tensions escalated, Kanagi attempted to intervene and diffuse the situation. In the midst of her efforts, one individual tried to flee, prompting her to pursue him. Unfortunately, she suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness.
Emergency medical assistance was provided, and she was rushed back to the Paramkudi government hospital for treatment. Despite efforts to save her, her condition did not improve, and she passed away.
The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Kanagi’s family, relatives, and colleagues, describing her death as an irreplaceable loss for both the Tamil Nadu police department and her loved ones. He reiterated the government’s commitment to support her family during this difficult time.
