Nawada, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : A family gathering in Nawada district turned tragic on the night of September 29 when a dispute over DJ music escalated into violence, leaving one person dead and two others seriously injured.
The incident occurred in the village of Devnapura, within the jurisdiction of Kadirganj police station. Initially, the injured were taken to Nawada Sadar Hospital. One of the victims, Sandeep Kumar, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday while receiving treatment in Patna. His two brothers, Suraj Kumar and Pradeep Mahto, continue to receive care at the Nawada facility.
According to family members, the celebration was held at Pradeep Mahto’s home to mark the sixth day after the birth of a daughter. The event featured music and dance, creating a festive atmosphere. However, during the celebration, a young man reportedly danced for an extended period to the DJ’s music. Family members advised him to eat before continuing to dance, which sparked a heated argument between the two groups.
The situation escalated when a young man allegedly attacked Sandeep Kumar with a sharp weapon. When his brothers attempted to intervene, they were also assaulted. All three brothers were transported to Nawada Sadar Hospital, but due to the severity of their injuries, they were referred to Patna for further treatment.
Sandeep Kumar, son of Bhola Mahto from Devnapura, later died during medical treatment. Suraj Kumar and Pradeep Mahto suffered serious injuries and remain hospitalized in Nawada.
The incident has left the family in deep shock and has caused tension in the area. Police acted swiftly, arresting five individuals involved in the attack. Following the post-mortem examination, Sandeep Kumar’s body was handed over to his family. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the specifics of the dispute and the roles of those arrested, with further action pending the investigation’s outcome.
