Indore, June 18: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) organized an anti-hijacking mock exercise and mobilization drill at Indore Airport in Madhya Pradesh. This event aimed to assess the preparedness for emergency situations related to aviation security.
To evaluate readiness for emergencies, particularly hijacking incidents, the CISF conducted its annual anti-hijacking mock exercise and mobilization drill at the airport.
The objective of this exercise was to evaluate the operational readiness of security agencies, their emergency response capabilities, and the coordination among various agencies.
During the mock drill, a hypothetical hijacking scenario was simulated, replicating the situation of an aircraft being taken over. This allowed for the assessment of the response system of security forces and the effectiveness of coordination mechanisms among different agencies.
A total of 242 participants took part in this joint exercise. Participants included CISF, local police, Border Security Force (BSF), National Security Guard (NSG), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Intelligence Bureau (IB), airport operators, Air Traffic Control (ATC), fire services, and representatives from various airlines.
Throughout the exercise, all agencies demonstrated their capability to respond to emergencies in a coordinated manner.
According to the CISF, such joint mock exercises enhance coordination among stakeholders and strengthen the preparedness to effectively tackle the evolving challenges in aviation security.
It is noteworthy that the CISF is responsible for the security of various institutions across the country. On June 17, the CISF formally took over the security responsibilities at Safdarjung Airport in Delhi, making it the 73rd airport under CISF security coverage.
This responsibility was assigned to the CISF under the Internal Security Duty Pattern (ISDP). The CISF stated that it will continue to fulfill its responsibilities with the highest security standards, vigilance, professional efficiency, and dedication to safeguard the country’s critical infrastructure and aviation sector.
