Jaipur (Patrika English News): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Alwar has arrested a middleman for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹17,000 on behalf of a Junior Engineer (JEN) of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL). The accused engineer, Tej Singh, managed to escape during the operation and is currently on the run.

Complaint Triggered the Trap
According to ACB Director General Smita Srivastava, a complainant approached the bureau alleging that JEN Tej Singh had demanded a bribe of ₹30,000 to avoid filing a VCR (Violation Case Report).
The complainant stated that Singh accused him of using an illegal electricity connection for a nearby Shiva temple. Despite clarifying that the temple lights were powered through his home inverter and that his house had a separate legal connection, Singh allegedly threatened to impose a penalty of ₹1 lakh unless he paid the bribe.
The JEN reportedly accepted ₹5,000 upfront and instructed the complainant to arrange the remaining ₹25,000 by the next day.
Bribe Accepted Through Middleman
On Friday, acting on the complaint, an ACB team led by Additional SP Mahendra Kumar laid a trap. During the operation, Singh’s alleged middleman Phool Singh was caught red-handed accepting ₹17,000 from the complainant.
The JEN fled the scene after sensing the ACB’s presence. A search has been launched to locate and arrest him.
Ongoing Investigation
The bureau has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Officials said further investigation is underway to trace Tej Singh and verify his involvement in other potential bribery cases.
