Washington, June 25: President Donald Trump stated that Iran is offering significant concessions in negotiations with the United States. He expressed confidence in the ongoing discussions while warning that U.S. forces are prepared to act if necessary.
During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House, Trump spoke positively about diplomacy with Tehran. However, he emphasized that military options remain on the table.
Before a lunch meeting with Republican lawmakers, Trump remarked, “The war is going well. As you know, we are winning. Iran is making major concessions. Let’s see what happens, but it has been very powerful and is going well.”
After the meeting, the President noted that Tehran continues to meet U.S. demands. He stated, “Iran is behaving very well. They are complying with everything I say, and they must comply. Otherwise, we will simply go back to doing what we have to do.”
During the Oval Office meeting with Rutte, Trump reiterated his optimism about the negotiations, saying, “Our talks with Iran are going very well.”
Regarding a vote in Congress on an Iran war resolution, Trump commented that such actions send a confusing and unnecessary message to Tehran. He believes it holds little practical significance, but Iran may interpret it differently.
Trump also rejected any future agreements that would allow Iran to charge for international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, stating, “I will not allow that.” The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints.
Rutte fully supported Trump’s Iran policy, emphasizing its main goal is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He stated, “I want to make it clear how crucial what you are doing in Iran is. Iran having nuclear capability would pose a threat to the entire world.”
He described Iran as a nation spreading chaos and terrorism, noting that it is very close to obtaining nuclear capability.
Rutte added, “Iran having nuclear capability would be a threat to the entire world, especially this region, Israel, Europe, and the rest of the world. This issue is not limited to regional security; it is related to global security.”
When asked about the investigation into an attack on a school in Minab, Trump said, “I don’t know if they will ever resolve that issue, whose fault it was, as missiles are being fired everywhere.”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the Pentagon is taking this investigation very seriously, and results will be released in due course.
