Bollywood Stars Embrace Spiritual Names for Their Children

Mumbai, May 10: Bollywood and South Indian film stars are currently choosing names for their children that are inspired by deities, spirituality, and divine meanings. These names are not only unique and appealing but also deeply rooted in culture, devotion, and divine power. Actress Sonam Kapoor recently announced the naming of her second son through social media.

Sonam Kapoor has named her younger son Rudralok Kapoor Ahuja. In an Instagram post, she expressed that she considers this child, born with the blessings of Lord Vishnu, a divine gift. Her elder son is named Vayu, which is associated with Lord Vishnu. The name of her younger son, Rudralok, is inspired by Lord Shiva’s Rudra form, meaning the destroyer of sorrows and the life force. Sonam wrote, “Rudra will be fearless, compassionate, and a beacon of strength and light.”

The trend of naming children after gods and goddesses was initiated by several stars even before Sonam Kapoor. These celebrities have chosen Vedic and deity-inspired names for their children, reflecting their deep faith, culture, and spiritual beliefs. In Bollywood, naming children has evolved from being a mere trend to a symbol of profound reverence and divine connection.

Similarly, Vatsal Seth and Ishita Dutta have named their second daughter Veda, which means ‘knowledge’ and ‘wisdom’ in Sanskrit. Their elder son is named Vayu, inspired by the wind god. Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar named their son Vedavid, meaning ‘one who knows the Vedas,’ chosen on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s daughter is named Vamika, a name for Goddess Durga, symbolizing strength and creativity. Their son is named Akay. Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover named their daughter Devi, meaning divine power. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra named their son Viyan, which is associated with Lord Krishna.

Junior NTR’s son is named Abhay, another name for Lord Shiva. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have named one son Rudronil (related to Shiva) and the other Daivik (divine power). Other notable names include Amala Paul’s son Ilai (Kartikeya) and Kiara Advani-Sidharth Malhotra’s daughter Sarayah (princess of God).
