Smita Bansal Opens Up About the Emotional Distance from Her Daughter Due to Work Commitments

Mumbai, June 25: Actress Smita Bansal, known for her role as Sumitra in the popular television series “Balika Vadhu,” recently shared a heartfelt experience on the talk show “Tum Ho Na – Ghar Ki Superstar.” She revealed that her busy shooting schedule often leaves her with little time for her family and children.

During the show, Smita expressed, “As an artist, I dedicate myself to my work, but I also feel the pain of being away from my family. Due to professional commitments, I sometimes cannot give my personal relationships the time they deserve as a mother.”

She recounted a poignant moment when she returned home from shooting and decided to put her daughter to bed. However, her daughter refused to sleep with her and opted to stay with her grandmother instead. “In that moment, I realized that my work had created an emotional distance between my daughter and me. It was a significant pain for me,” Smita shared.

Smita further reflected on her identity as an actress, stating, “People recognize me for various roles on TV. Some call me ‘Anandi’s mother,’ while others refer to me as ‘Jagya’s mother.’ Yet, in real life, I struggle to spend as much time with my own daughter as I wish I could. This has been my greatest regret as a mother, something I cannot fully change.”

In discussing her acting career, Smita noted, “I have portrayed many strong female characters who face life’s challenges with resilience. These roles have taught me that true strength is not always about grand gestures or words; sometimes, it lies in the small sacrifices and patience of everyday life.”

She added, “Over time, I have started to connect with these characters because, in real life, women often endure a lot for their families and responsibilities without complaint.”

On a personal note, Smita Bansal married director and actor Ankush Mohla in 2002. The couple has two daughters, Stasha Bansal and Angha Bansal.
