Lucknow, August 4: Uttar Pradesh BJP President and Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, has targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) for its disruptive behavior during the Assembly’s monsoon session. He suggested that if the SP’s role is merely to create chaos and obstruct proceedings, it should consider renaming itself the “Halla-Gulla Party.” Chaudhary accused the opposition of avoiding discussions on development issues in favor of political theatrics.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Chaudhary criticized the SP’s conduct during Assembly proceedings, emphasizing that while the opposition has the right to question the government and provide constructive criticism, continuously obstructing the House is against democratic traditions and parliamentary decorum.
He stated that the SP’s actions do not reflect respect for the public mandate or democratic institutions. If their only goal is to create disturbances, they should indeed adopt the name “Halla-Gulla Party.”
Chaudhary highlighted that the state government has presented a supplementary budget aimed at accelerating development in agriculture, youth, women, the poor, education, health, employment, and infrastructure. Instead of engaging in serious discussions on these critical topics, the SP chose to create a ruckus, indicating their lack of concern for the state’s development.
He reiterated that the public elects their representatives to debate issues, find solutions, and hold the government accountable, not to engage in slogans and create deadlocks. The opposition should respect democratic values and play a positive, constructive role.
The BJP state president noted that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the state government is consistently working towards good governance, public welfare, and comprehensive development. Meanwhile, the SP is attempting to maintain its relevance through disruptive politics. He concluded that the public is observant and understands the difference between respecting democratic institutions and disrespecting them.
