BJP Leader Accuses Opposition of Blaming EVMs for Electoral Losses

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Ashok Bajpai has voiced strong criticism against opposition parties for their persistent accusations regarding electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the Election Commission following electoral defeats. His remarks came in response to various issues, including a Supreme Court ruling on the suspension of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and comments made by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar about India-Pakistan relations.

Bajpai stated that after losing elections, opposition parties often express frustration by blaming either EVMs or the Election Commission. He pointed out that in states where these parties win, they view EVMs and the Commission as fair, but raise doubts whenever the BJP secures victory.

He noted that the BJP’s success in West Bengal seems to trouble the opposition, while they remain silent about the Election Commission when they win in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. For Bajpai, it has become easier for the opposition to target EVMs and the Commission rather than addressing their electoral failures with the public.

Supporting remarks made by Sakshi Maharaj, Bajpai highlighted that the Samajwadi Party managed to win 37 seats in the Lok Sabha. He questioned how this was possible if EVMs were indeed faulty, suggesting that the opposition’s continuous attacks on the Election Commission are merely a way to vent their frustrations over electoral losses.

Regarding the Supreme Court’s stance on the demand to suspend Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Bajpai emphasized that the apex court has already intervened and made a decision, suggesting that further discussion is unnecessary. He characterized the opposition’s demands as unreasonable, asserting that the court will base its judgment on facts rather than media reports.

Bajpai accused the opposition of undermining the dignity of the nation and its constitutional institutions, claiming they become uncomfortable when the country gains respect. He remarked that while a brave individual in the country performed a commendable act, the opposition lacked even a moment to acknowledge it.

On the topic of India-Pakistan relations, Bajpai criticized Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, urging Congress to reflect on why India halted dialogue with Pakistan. He accused Pakistan of continuing to promote terrorism and harming Indian citizens, suggesting that instead of condemning Pakistan, Congress leaders advocate for dialogue with them, which he described as a double standard.

In reference to comments made by Asaduddin Owaisi about Akhilesh Yadav, Bajpai acknowledged Owaisi’s political choices but supported the claim that Congress and the Samajwadi Party have exploited Muslims solely as a vote bank. He argued that these parties have failed to work for the welfare of the Muslim community, instead using fear of the BJP to rally votes.

Discussing the seat-sharing arrangement between Congress and the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, Bajpai noted that their alliance is fraught with differences, both ideological and organizational. He stated that their collaboration is solely aimed at gaining power and that previous alliances have frequently dissolved after elections.

Bajpai concluded by asserting that the public has recognized this alliance as merely a strategy for vote politics. He expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government again in Uttar Pradesh, citing improved law and order under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s administration.
