Congress Responds to Kiren Rijijus Allegations of Anti-National Conspiracy

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Udit Raj has sharply criticized Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s recent remarks regarding the SIR, stating that their struggle is aimed at saving India. He emphasized that democracy hinges on this fight. Rijiju suggested that the opposition to SIR is part of a conspiracy by anti-national elements.

In an interview, Udit Raj questioned if a nation could thrive without democracy, stating that human freedom and personal rights are paramount. He also addressed comments made by Mani Shankar Aiyar about surgical strikes, insisting that Aiyar should be held accountable for his statements instead of him. Aiyar had claimed that while India shows courage in conducting surgical strikes against Pakistan, it lacks the will to initiate dialogue. He raised concerns about why both countries, being neighbors, do not attempt to resolve differences through conversation.

Regarding petitions against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and the Supreme Court‘s notice to the Election Commission, Udit Raj noted that the notice has been issued and further hearings will follow. He pointed out that the Delhi riots case has now reached the High Court, questioning whether law enforcement took action against hate speeches made by BJP affiliates at that time. He acknowledged the judiciary’s pressures but praised two judges for their commendable stance in support of democracy. Justice Bhuiyan remarked that no one should be deprived of their voting rights, while retired Justice Nariman highlighted that 9 million voters in Bengal were prevented from voting.

Udit Raj also commented on the Supreme Court’s notice to the EC and the central government, affirming that the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi are gaining traction and support. He noted that evidence and testimonies have been provided, including criticisms from within the Election Commission itself. This issue has become a national concern, with various sectors, including judges, legal experts, professors, doctors, and students, voicing their inquiries. He maintained that the CEC should resign promptly.

In a related response, Congress leader Rajendra Pal Gautam rebuked Kiren Rijiju’s statements, claiming that the BJP has weakened the nation. He urged Rijiju to recognize the current state of the country, which he described as devastated. Gautam criticized the government for lacking coherent foreign, economic, employment, and agricultural policies, asserting that they have become a curse for the nation, failing on all fronts.
