
Lucknow, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a significant movement towards cleanliness and environmental awareness in schools. As of October 5, 2026, the “Clean and Green School Rating” initiative, known as SHVR, has seen participation from 162,054 schools out of a total of 266,408 across the state.
The initiative has recorded a completion percentage of 60.83%. This year’s SHVR highlights the extensive involvement of schools in promoting a clean and green environment. Various districts have shown remarkable performance, actively participating in the program.
District-wise reports reflect the status of schools across all 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur Dehat leads with a completion rate of 83.17%, with 2,392 out of 2,876 schools achieving full participation. Following closely are Muzaffarnagar at 82.24% and Bhadohi at 77.62%. The top five also include Kaushambi at 75.22% and Lalitpur at 73.78%.
The top ten districts based on completion percentage include Kanpur Dehat, Muzaffarnagar, Bhadohi, Kaushambi, Lalitpur, Barabanki, Rampur, Mau, Bulandshahr, and Saharanpur, showcasing a diverse range of participation from across the state.
From eastern to western Uttar Pradesh, schools have actively engaged in the initiative. Varanasi recorded a completion rate of 67.58%, Mirzapur at 68.29%, Sonbhadra at 68.51%, Gorakhpur at 60.83%, Bulandshahr at 70.25%, and Saharanpur at 68.90%. These figures illustrate the active involvement of schools in promoting clean and green practices.
With 186,196 schools initiating the SHVR process and 179,793 registering, the data underscores the broad and active participation of schools in Uttar Pradesh for the 2026-27 academic year.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh emphasized, “Clean and green schools are the foundation for a healthy and aware generation. The SHVR initiative is strengthening cleanliness, environmental consciousness, and green practices in schools.”
Monika Rani, the Director General of School Education, noted, “SHVR is an effective means to engage schools in cleanliness and environmental standards. This widespread participation will accelerate positive changes towards clean and green schools.”
