ASEAN Plus Three Reports Strong Economic Resilience Amid Global Challenges

Beijing, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : On October 5, 2026, the ASEAN Plus Three Macroeconomic Research Office, which includes China, Japan, and South Korea, released its latest editions of the “ASEAN Plus Three Regional Financial Stability Report (2026)” and the “ASEAN Plus Three Regional Economic Outlook 2026.”

The report indicates that despite the energy crisis in the Middle East, the overall performance of the region remains robust. The ASEAN Plus Three Macroeconomic Research Office forecasts an economic growth rate of 4.1% for both 2026 and 2027. Inflation rates are projected to be 1.6% and 1.7%, respectively.

Strong exports and investments related to artificial intelligence are driving economic growth. However, rising energy prices and the impact of El Niño on food costs could increase inflation. Additionally, disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have driven up energy prices, reigniting market concerns over global inflation.

Despite facing adverse external factors and rising interest rates in the U.S. dollar, the economies of ASEAN and the China-Japan-South Korea bloc have demonstrated significant resilience.
