BJP Leader Accuses Karnataka CM of Exploiting Bangladeshi Migrants for Votes

Mysuru, July 11: Senior BJP leader and opposition head in Karnataka, R. Ashoka, launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, labeling him a “mask chief minister.”

Ashoka alleged that Shivakumar is misleading the people of Karnataka, claiming that illegal migrants from Bangladesh have become a vote bank for the state government.

He made these remarks during a ceremony organized by the Federation of Working Communities to honor newly elected MLC Raghu R. Kautilya at G.K. Grounds in Mysuru. Ashoka accused the Karnataka government of engaging in vote bank politics.

He emphasized that the BJP is committed to providing political representation to marginalized communities, which is why Raghu R. Kautilya was nominated to the Legislative Council.

Ashoka urged citizens to participate in the ongoing Special Identity Registration (SIR) to ensure that only eligible citizens are included in the voter list.

He claimed, “Millions of Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals reside in India, many of whom allegedly benefit from government services.”

He further accused former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of providing government benefits to Bangladeshi migrants and criticized the Karnataka government for attempting to include Bangladeshi citizens in the state’s voter list by issuing permanent residency certificates.

Ashoka insisted that this practice must be stopped immediately, asserting that the right to grant citizenship lies solely with the central government. He alleged that a counter-campaign against the SIR is underway, aimed at undermining the country’s laws.

Continuing his attack on Chief Minister Shivakumar, Ashoka mocked him regarding government tenders. He remarked, “D.K. stands for ‘tender’ because despite being in office for a short time, he has issued tenders for years of work. He became chief minister through a ‘tender’ process initiated by Rahul Gandhi, which he has now taken advantage of.”
