Tehran, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on September 9 that it had conducted attacks on two U.S. ships and eight oil tankers in the Gulf. The IRGC also targeted ten additional vessels attempting to navigate through what it described as a restricted and unsafe area of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to reports from the official Iranian news agency, the IRGC stated that these actions were a retaliatory response to previous attacks on five Iranian tankers. The IRGC’s navy emphasized that the assaults on the U.S. vessels were executed in response to what it characterized as “aggressive and malicious actions” by the U.S. military.
In a statement, the IRGC claimed significant damage was inflicted on the two American ships and the eight tankers involved in the incident. Furthermore, the IRGC accused the U.S. Navy of encouraging other vessels to pass through the area, which it considers to be under its strict surveillance and control.
Earlier on the same day, the IRGC also claimed an attack on a U.S. airbase located in Jordan. They reported targeting a hangar used for the maintenance and deployment of American F-35, F-16, and F-15 fighter jets, as well as a shelter designed for these aircraft. The IRGC asserted that this operation resulted in substantial damage to the enemy.
The IRGC maintains that these actions are necessary responses to the perceived aggression against Iranian oil tankers by U.S. forces.
