BJP Leader Accuses Karnataka CM of Exploiting Bangladeshi Migrants for Votes

Mysuru, July 11: Senior BJP leader and opposition head in Karnataka, R. Ashoka, launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, labeling him as the “Mask Chief Minister.”

Ashoka accused Shivakumar of misleading the people of Karnataka, claiming that illegal migrants from Bangladesh have become a vote bank for the state government.

He made these remarks during a ceremony held at G.K. Grounds in Mysuru, organized by the Federation of Working Communities to honor newly elected MLC Raghu R. Kautilya. Ashoka alleged that the Karnataka government is engaging in vote bank politics.

He emphasized that the BJP is committed to providing political representation to marginalized and backward communities, which is why Raghu R. Kautilya was nominated for the Legislative Council.

Ashoka urged citizens to participate in the ongoing Special Identity Registration (SIR) to ensure that only eligible citizens are listed on the voter rolls.

He claimed, “Millions of Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals are residing in India, many of whom are reportedly benefiting from government services.”

He further alleged that former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee provided government facilities to Bangladeshi migrants and accused the Karnataka government of attempting to include Bangladeshi citizens in the state’s voter list by issuing permanent residency certificates.

Ashoka insisted that this practice must be stopped immediately, asserting that the right to grant citizenship lies solely with the central government. He accused opponents of the SIR of trying to weaken the country’s laws.

Continuing his attack on Chief Minister Shivakumar, Ashoka mocked him regarding government tenders. He remarked, “D.K. stands for ‘Tender’ because, despite being in office for a short time, he has issued tenders for years of work. He became Chief Minister through a ‘tender’ that Rahul Gandhi initiated, and now D.K. Shivakumar has taken it over.”
