Ranchi, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) initiated a statewide protest in Jharkhand on September 8, 2026, in response to alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment exams. The party also condemned the filing of cases against protesting students.
Demonstrations took place across multiple districts, including Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Dumka, Jamshedpur, and Garhwa, where party workers gathered outside administrative offices and district headquarters. They demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged discrepancies in the recruitment exams and called for the withdrawal of cases against the protesting students.
In Ranchi, BJP activists marched from the District School to Shahi Chowk, chanting slogans against the state government. The protest was led by state BJP president Aditya Sahu and attended by several senior leaders, including Hatia MLA Nawin Jaiswal, Ranchi MLA CP Singh, former MP Deepak Prakash, and Ranchi Mayor Roshni Khalkho.
Addressing the crowd outside the Collectorate, Sahu asserted that the BJP has always supported students and youth movements. He accused the government of targeting those who raised concerns about the exam irregularities and reiterated the party’s demand for a CBI investigation and the immediate withdrawal of all cases against the students.
Sahu announced that the BJP’s protests would continue in all districts of Jharkhand until September 11. In Dumka, under the leadership of opposition leader Babulal Marandi, BJP workers also staged a protest. Marandi called for a CBI investigation into all recruitments in Jharkhand over the past five to six years, alleging that the government has “sold jobs instead of providing employment.” He criticized the filing of cases against students who peacefully protested and claimed that many cases related to recruitment irregularities have yet to see charges filed, suggesting a network of intermediaries involved in the process.
In Hazaribagh, former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das led a gathering of BJP workers and student supporters to surround the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He emphasized that filing cases against students who are peacefully protesting is an infringement on their democratic rights. Das highlighted the importance of competitive exams for the future of youth and insisted on transparency in the recruitment process, warning against any compromises regarding their futures.
BJP leaders claimed that over 300 students associated with the movement face legal charges and demanded the immediate withdrawal of all such cases. In Garhwa, former Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth addressed a public meeting after leading a protest at the district headquarters, reiterating demands for a CBI inquiry into the JPSC and JSSC recruitments, the withdrawal of cases against students, and accountability for alleged police excesses during the protests.
