Ayodhya, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Awadhesh Prasad, a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP), has responded to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s recent comments, which labeled the SP as ‘Saanpanath’, the Bahujan Samaj Party as ‘Naag Nath’, and Congress as ‘Kaliya Naag’. Prasad contended that the deputy chief minister is feeling anxious as the upcoming elections approach, a sentiment he believes is shared by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In a statement, Prasad questioned Maurya’s political standing, noting, “What is Keshav Maurya’s status? He could not even win in his own constituency during the assembly elections. He became deputy chief minister through the support of others, lacking any real political base.” He further emphasized that both Maurya and Adityanath are worried about the electoral prospects as the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections draw near.
Regarding the elections, Prasad asserted, “People are not confused; they are frustrated with the government led by Yogi Adityanath. The public has decided to oust the BJP and the chief minister. There is a strong resolve among the people to establish a government under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav.” He dismissed any notion of confusion among voters.
On the topic of the ‘India’ alliance meeting, Prasad highlighted its significance, stating, “The India alliance was formed for a crucial purpose. This important meeting is taking place at a time when the country is in dire straits. Our economic and foreign policies are heavily influenced by the United States, resulting in rising inflation and distress among farmers and laborers.”
He condemned the violence against youth, citing instances of police brutality and the erosion of voting rights. Prasad recalled how Dr. B.R. Ambedkar granted voting rights to millions of Dalits, backward communities, and minorities, accusing the BJP of attempting to strip away these rights and weaken democracy. “Therefore, this meeting is of utmost importance,” he added.
In response to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s comments referring to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as a ‘puppet’, Prasad stated, “Kharge ji has made this remark today. Our leader Akhilesh ji had previously declared that the Election Commission is dead, even sending a shroud for it. These are not new issues; we have consistently voiced this concern.”
