Amit Shah Pledges to Eradicate Drugs from Punjab During Jalandhar Rally
Amit Shah vows to make Punjab drug-free by 2029, criticizing the AAP government during a rally in Jalandhar.

Jalandhar, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Central Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a rally in Jalandhar, Punjab, on September 30, as part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra.’ During his speech, he targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, promising to rid Punjab of drug abuse.
Shah expressed his gratitude for being in Jalandhar, emphasizing the significance of this visit in the context of creating a drug-free Punjab. He acknowledged Punjab’s vital contributions to the nation, particularly in agriculture and security. “Punjab’s farmers have consistently filled our granaries, and the state has always stood ready in times of national security,” he remarked.
He highlighted the sacrifices of Punjabis in India’s struggle for independence and their ongoing commitment to national defense. This journey, which began in Pathankot, has covered 4,000 kilometers across 117 assembly constituencies over 13 days, culminating in Jalandhar.
Shah pointed out that the current political climate necessitates a push for a drug-free Punjab, criticizing the AAP for allowing open drug trade. He stated that the upcoming assembly elections would focus primarily on this issue, alongside concerns about farmers, industries, law and order, and women’s safety. “We will fight this election on the promise of a drug-free Punjab,” he declared.
He made a commitment to the people of Punjab, especially mothers and youth, stating, “Vote for the BJP and the lotus symbol, and we will free Punjab from the drug trade by December 31, 2029.” Shah expressed confidence in fulfilling this promise, referencing the BJP’s past achievements in combating terrorism and extremism under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
Shah shared a poignant encounter with families affected by drug addiction, recounting a mother’s plea to save other youth from the same fate. He condemned those who disrespect spiritual leaders while under the influence of drugs, asserting that such individuals cannot lead Punjab towards sobriety.
He questioned the capability of those involved in corruption scandals in Delhi to cleanse Punjab of drugs, contrasting their track record with the BJP’s commitment. “Give us a chance for five years, and we will transform Punjab into a drug-free state,” he urged.
The campaign, he emphasized, is not merely a political agenda but a mission to save Punjab from the scourge of drugs, ensuring that no drugs will be sold or supplied from Punjab to other states in India.
