Ranchi, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : In Ranchi, on September 8, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) initiated a state-wide protest against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment examinations. The demonstration also aimed to address legal actions taken against protesting students.
BJP workers gathered in various districts, including Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Dumka, Jamshedpur, and Garhwa, surrounding district collector offices and administrative buildings. They demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the recruitment exam irregularities and the withdrawal of cases against the students involved in the protests.
In Ranchi, party members marched from the District School at Shaheed Chowk, proceeding through major city roads to the collectorate. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the state government. The rally was led by state president Aditya Sahu, and included notable leaders such as Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal, Ranchi MLA CP Singh, former MP Deepak Prakash, and Ranchi Mayor Roshni Khalkho.
Addressing the crowd outside the collectorate, Aditya Sahu emphasized that the BJP stands with students and youth movements. He accused the government of retaliating against students who raised concerns about the exam irregularities by filing cases against them. Sahu reiterated the demand for a CBI investigation and the withdrawal of legal actions against the students.
The BJP’s protest is set to continue across all districts until September 11. In Dumka, party workers demonstrated at the district headquarters under the leadership of opposition leader Babulal Marandi.
During a public address, Marandi called for a CBI investigation into all appointments made in Jharkhand over the past five to six years. He alleged that the government was more focused on selling jobs than providing them. Marandi noted that the protesting students had not resorted to insults, yet faced legal actions.
He highlighted that charges had not yet been filed in several cases related to recruitment exam irregularities. Marandi suggested that a network of brokers was behind the irregularities and criticized the CID investigations as biased.
In Hazaribagh, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das led BJP workers and student supporters in surrounding the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Das stated that filing cases against students peacefully protesting for their rights was an infringement on their democratic freedoms. He stressed the importance of transparency in the examination process, which is crucial for the future of the youth.
Das asserted that the BJP would not tolerate any compromise on the future of young people. The party claimed that over 300 students involved in the protests had faced legal actions, which should be immediately revoked. In Garhwa, former Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth addressed a gathering at the Town Hall after a demonstration at the district headquarters. He echoed the calls for a CBI investigation into the JPSC-JSSC appointments, the withdrawal of cases against students, and condemned police actions against them. Seth accused the government of jeopardizing the future of the youth. He affirmed that the BJP would fight for justice for students and young people, both on the streets and in legislative assemblies.
