Jaipur, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : An army soldier was reportedly kidnapped while returning home from coaching classes in Rajasthan’s Sikar district. The incident took place on the evening of September 8, near the Kerpura bus stand, when a group of armed individuals allegedly intercepted him and forced him into a vehicle.
The soldier, identified as 32-year-old Shriram Sihag, was on leave and preparing for a sub-inspector recruitment exam. Following the abduction, the kidnappers contacted his wife using his phone, demanding a ransom of ₹10 lakh.
According to the family, the call came around 11:46 PM, where the caller assured them that Shriram was safe and instructed them to transfer the money to a specified bank account. Shortly after the call, it was disconnected, prompting the family to alert the police.
Authorities revealed that the family suspects a fellow soldier may be involved due to a financial dispute that occurred during Shriram’s deployment in West Bengal. Shriram’s brother, Sher Singh, filed a report with the police, detailing a previous money-related conflict with another soldier from Karauli district.
In response to the incident, a police team has been dispatched to investigate this potential connection. Local law enforcement has also implemented roadblocks in surrounding areas as they search for the missing soldier. Shriram had been on leave for the past three to four months to prepare for the recruitment exam, having joined the army in 2013 and currently stationed in Punjab.
The discovery of Shriram’s abandoned motorcycle and helmet at the scene, along with the ransom call, has intensified the investigation. Police are exploring multiple angles to identify suspects and locate the soldier while verifying the details of the alleged financial dispute.
