Bihar Minister Deepak Prakash Faces Uncertainty Amid MLC Elections

Patna, June 8: In Bihar, the NDA has not nominated Deepak Prakash of the National Lok Morcha for the upcoming elections for ten seats in the Legislative Council. Currently, Prakash is not a member of any house, putting his ministerial position at risk.

Meanwhile, Upendra Kushwaha, the leader of the National Lok Morcha, stated that questions regarding the lack of a seat should be directed to him. “How can I answer that?” he remarked. Kushwaha also extended his best wishes to those who filed nominations on Monday.

He emphasized that all candidates nominated by the NDA are guaranteed victory and will be elected unopposed. When asked about the implications for Deepak Prakash’s ministerial status, he noted that NDA leaders appointed Prakash as a minister, and he will remain in that role as long as they decide. Kushwaha pointed out that Prakash was not a member of any house when he took the oath of office, and that remains unchanged.

Additionally, Madhav Anand, a legislator from Kushwaha’s party, asserted that the NDA is united. Regarding the lack of a seat, he mentioned that it is a matter for the party leadership. On Monday, all nine NDA candidates, including Nishant Kumar from JD(U), submitted their nominations for the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) elections.

On the final day for nominations, Sunil Singh from the RJD also filed his papers. If necessary, the biennial elections for the nine Legislative Council seats are scheduled for June 18. Additionally, a by-election will be held for a seat that became vacant after former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was elected to the Rajya Sabha. Monday marked the last date for filing nominations for this election.
