Babulal Marandi Criticizes Congress and Targets Assam Elections

Ranchi, April 7: Babulal Marandi, the leader of the opposition in Jharkhand, has responded to the ongoing elections in Assam and the allegations made by the Indian National Congress regarding Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife allegedly holding two passports from Muslim-majority countries. He criticized the Congress party, stating that they make baseless claims.

Regarding the accusations against the Assam Chief Minister and his wife, Marandi remarked that Congress is aware of its impending defeat in Assam. “When a party is losing an election, it resorts to making statements to create a disturbance,” he said.

On Jharkhand’s Chief Minister campaigning in Assam, Marandi commented that he has no work to do in Jharkhand. “He just roams around like a tourist. While the entire country was celebrating Republic Day, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand was in London. The entire cabinet is camping in Assam,” he added.

Marandi mentioned that he is contesting elections for approximately 18 seats, but doubts that this will enable him to form a government. “I suspect he is not here to contest elections but perhaps to buy a tea garden. He might be there to invest,” he suggested.

Despite having a majority government in Jharkhand, Marandi highlighted the dire situation for tribal communities. “In Godda, a woman gave birth in a tempo because there was no ambulance. What about the conditions in Chaibasa and Santhal Pargana? The roads are impassable even in areas where the Chief Minister is an MLA. Instead of addressing these issues, he is giving speeches in Assam,” he criticized.

Meanwhile, through a social media post, Hemant Soren accused attempts to suppress democratic voices in Assam. “Yesterday, I was prevented from addressing a gathering, and today I was denied the chance to meet my brothers and sisters from the Rongonadi and Chabua assembly constituencies. Do opponents really believe they can thwart the power of the bow and arrow using constitutional institutions?” he questioned.

Soren further stated that for years, attempts to silence the exploited and marginalized tribal community in the tea gardens have failed. “How much longer can you suppress us? History shows that whenever voices have been stifled, they have risen even stronger. On April 9, my millions of brothers and sisters will press the button for the bow and arrow and hold their oppressors accountable,” he concluded.
