Ayodhya, July 29: With the onset of the Shravan month, Ayodhya is gearing up for the arrival of millions of Kanwariyas. The administration has completed extensive preparations for security and traffic management. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Grover stated that all agencies are on high alert to ensure the event is safe, organized, and smooth.
In an interview, SSP Grover mentioned that a significant number of Kanwariyas arrive in Ayodhya during the first to the fourth Sundays and Mondays of the month. In light of this, a comprehensive review of traffic arrangements within the district has been conducted. Ground inspections of the routes from neighboring districts have also been completed. Coordination meetings with officials from relevant districts have established a detailed action plan for traffic diversion and the movement of Kanwariyas. A police presence will be maintained 24/7 throughout the event, with continuous monitoring via CCTV and drone cameras. Parking arrangements for Kanwariyas’ vehicles have also been secured in advance.
SSP Grover explained that security measures have been implemented at the ghats where devotees collect water to offer at the Nageshwar Nath temple and other Shiva shrines. Additional police forces from headquarters, ranges, and zones will be deployed to ensure the event proceeds peacefully and securely.
Regarding traffic diversion and coordination between various districts during the Kanwar Yatra, SSP Grover noted that past experiences and crowd patterns have been analyzed for all four Mondays of the Shravan month, the Shravan Jhula Mela, and other religious events. Assessments have been made to determine which districts see the highest influx of Kanwariyas on specific dates, allowing for pre-established coordination with those districts. Adequate police presence, along with CCTV and drone surveillance, will be maintained on the routes leading to Ayodhya. The administration aims to ensure smooth movement for both Kanwariyas and local citizens.
In light of the rising water levels in the Saryu River, the administration has decided to exercise special vigilance at the ghats. SSP Grover reported that the NDRF, SDRF, water police, and local divers have been deployed due to the increased water levels. Civil police and administrative officers will be present at the ghats 24/7. Sufficient resources and trained personnel are in place to address any emergencies, ensuring the safety of the devotees.
On the preparations at the Nageshwar Nath temple, SSP Grover mentioned that he conducted a ground inspection of the temple complex and the entire route with the district magistrate and other officials. The route from the ghats to the temple has been divided into various sectors, with barriers and barricades set up at multiple points. Considering the temple’s holding and viewing capacity, devotees will be allowed entry in phases. Only after one group finishes their offering and exits will the next group be permitted to enter. This system has proven effective in previous years and has been further strengthened this time to ensure a safe and organized experience for the devotees.
