
Guwahati, June 8: The distribution of ministerial departments in Assam has been finalized. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this on his social media platform. He expressed his pleasure in sharing the allocation of departments among the members of the Assam government cabinet.
Following the approval from the Governor, the Chief Minister declared the distribution of departments among the state cabinet members. He shared this information on the social media platform X, stating that all ministers have been assigned their respective departments.
The Chief Minister has retained several key departments, including Home and Political Affairs, Public Works (Buildings and National Highways), Public Works (Roads), Energy, Information and Public Relations, Printing and Stationery, among others that have not been allocated to other ministers.
Dr. Ashwini Rai has been assigned the departments of Social Justice and Empowerment, Soil Conservation, and Minority Welfare and Development. Ashok Singhal will oversee Health and Family Welfare as well as Medical Education and Research.
Bimal Bora has been entrusted with Cultural Affairs, Industry and Commerce, Public Enterprises, and matters related to the ‘Act East Policy.’ Biswajit Daimari will handle Handloom, Textiles, Sports and Youth Welfare, Skill Development, and Tribal Faith and Culture.
Jayant Mallabarua is responsible for Finance, Environment and Forests, and Mining. Kaushik Rai has been assigned the departments of Food and Public Distribution, Urban Development, and Cooperation.
Keshav Mahanta will manage Revenue and Disaster Management, Science and Technology, and General Administration. Krishnendu Paul has been given the Public Health Engineering, Hill Area Development, and Barak Valley Development departments.
Nilima Devi will oversee Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, as well as Fisheries. Piyush Hazarika has been assigned the responsibilities of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Parliamentary Affairs.
Dr. Ranoj Pegu will manage School Education, Higher Education, Tribal Affairs (Plain), and Information Technology. Sushant Borgohain has been given the departments of Water Resources and Judicial Affairs.
Chief Minister Sarma extended his best wishes to all ministers, emphasizing that the government will work with teamwork and dedication to accelerate the development and prosperity of Assam.
