Another Arrest in Delhis Fake Protein Supplement Scam; Illegal Factory Sealed

New Delhi, March 29: The Delhi Crime Branch has arrested a member of a gang involved in the production and sale of counterfeit nutrition supplements. This follows two previous arrests in the case.

Police officials identified the arrested suspect as 32-year-old Naveen Kumar, also known as Banjara, from Haryana. The action was taken after an FIR was registered based on a complaint from Glanbia Performance Nutrition (India) Private Limited. Earlier, two other suspects, Mohit Tiwari and Mohit Dixit, were apprehended, with authorities seizing 150 kilograms of fake supplements and numerous counterfeit brand stickers from them. Further investigation and technical analysis revealed Naveen Kumar’s involvement.

The Crime Branch team conducted a raid in Ranikheda village, Delhi, uncovering an illegal manufacturing unit. Naveen Kumar was arrested at the scene. Investigations indicated that he was mixing cheap raw powders and flavors to create counterfeit protein supplements branded as ‘Optimum Nutrition’ and ‘Syntha-6’. He then sold these products in the market, complete with fake stickers, holograms, and seals to mimic genuine items.

During the raid, police recovered a significant quantity of counterfeit supplements, fake stickers, holograms, empty jars, raw materials, and machinery. The haul included 26 sealed containers of fake supplements, hundreds of counterfeit stickers and seals, bags of maltodextrin, various flavoring essences, and supplement manufacturing machines. Additionally, a desktop computer was seized, containing soft copies of fake brand stickers.

FSSAI officials were also called to the scene and collected necessary samples. According to police, the suspect had been active in this illegal business for a long time and played a crucial role in the supply chain.

Currently, police are working to identify the entire network, sources of raw materials, and other suspects involved. Authorities state that more arrests related to this racket are expected soon.
