Guwahati, April 1: Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, BJP President Dilip Saikia intensified campaign efforts in Tinsukia on Tuesday. He emphasized that if the BJP returns to power, a large-scale anti-encroachment drive will be initiated.
Speaking to reporters during an election event, Saikia stated, “If our government is re-elected, we will launch a strict campaign to remove encroachments. All lands occupied by ‘Miya’ settlers will be vacated.”
Saikia’s remarks come amid heightened political rhetoric as the assembly elections approach. Earlier on Tuesday, he addressed a public meeting at the Manav Kalyan Bhawan in Tinsukia, where he also interacted with BJP workers and local residents.
He urged voters to ensure a significant victory for BJP candidate Pulak Gohain, praising his dedication and grassroots connection. “We need committed and honest leadership. Pulak Gohain has worked sincerely for the welfare of the people. I appeal to all voters to support him with a large majority,” Saikia added.
The BJP leader accused the Congress party of misleading the public with unrealistic promises. He compared this to the BJP government’s achievements and highlighted several key welfare schemes implemented in Assam over the past few years. Saikia claimed that the BJP enjoys tremendous support from the public across the state and expressed confidence that the party will secure a strong mandate in the upcoming elections.
The campaign in Tinsukia is part of the BJP’s extensive outreach strategy in Upper Assam, a region deemed crucial for the party’s electoral prospects. Senior BJP leaders are consistently touring constituencies to garner support and raise voter awareness.
