Seoul, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has embarked on a four-day visit to France, starting Sunday, accompanied by a high-level delegation. During this trip, he is set to engage in discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on strengthening security, economic ties, and bilateral cooperation. The two leaders will also address the impact of rising tensions in the Middle East on trade.
This visit coincides with the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and France. It follows Macron’s trip to South Korea in April.
Yoon will first travel to Nice, where he will participate in the Lumière Summit in nearby Saint-Paul-de-Vence, which focuses on the future of cinema. He will then begin a two-day state visit in Paris on Tuesday.
In addition to a face-to-face meeting, Yoon and Macron will hold a summit in Paris. Following their discussions, Macron and his wife, Brigitte, will host a state dinner at the Élysée Palace.
During his visit, Yoon is also expected to attend a business conference involving 20 companies from both nations. Topics for discussion may include cooperation in the nuclear energy sector and the potential military deployment in the Strait of Hormuz.
In their April meeting, Yoon and Macron agreed to enhance collaboration to ensure safe maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz and to address the broader economic and energy impacts of conflicts in the Middle East. They emphasized the need for increased cooperation in several strategic areas, including nuclear energy, offshore wind energy, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum technology, and critical minerals.
