Moscow, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Russian President Vladimir Putin engaged in significant discussions with American envoys Steve Vitkof and Jared Kushner in Moscow. The talks, described as in-depth, constructive, and open, were confirmed by Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov early Sunday.
Ushakov noted that critical issues were addressed during this working-level meeting, which included informal conversations over dinner. Putin reiterated Russia’s readiness to collaborate with the United States to find a political and diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine situation.
According to Ushakov, the Russian side provided a clear and detailed assessment of the current situation resulting from the special military operation. He highlighted the actual progress of Russian forces on the battlefield and emphasized the necessity of addressing the root causes of the conflict.
The discussions were not limited to the Ukraine crisis. Both sides also explored economic issues and potential mutually beneficial projects between Russia and the United States. Ushakov stated that the timing of the talks was appropriate and beneficial for both nations. It was agreed that the two presidents would maintain direct communication, with Vitkof and Kushner facilitating ongoing discussions.
The meeting lasted for three hours and ten minutes. Ushakov mentioned that the American envoys assured they would convey President Putin’s insights and information regarding the Ukraine conflict to their meetings in Kyiv the following day.
Previously, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had indicated that during the preparations for the meeting with US envoys, Putin ordered a three-day halt to attacks on Kyiv. Peskov told reporters, “There will certainly be a meeting with President Putin, and discussions will take place. Typically, such meetings have been lengthy. Let’s wait and see, and we will keep you updated.” He cautioned against speculating on a potential peace proposal before assessing the outcomes of the Putin-US negotiators’ meeting.
