Amit Shah Claims BJP Will Form Government in Bengal, Predicts Victory in 110 Out of 152 Seats

Kolkata, April 24: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form a government in West Bengal following the first phase of voting. During a press conference in Kolkata, Shah stated that the BJP is expected to win over 110 seats out of the 152 contested.

Shah explained that the BJP’s Bengal team has conducted an assessment, leading them to believe that the party will secure more than 110 seats in this phase. He emphasized that the BJP is preparing to form a government in Bengal, keeping the second phase of voting in mind.

Commenting on the record voter turnout, Shah noted that the people of Bengal voted with unprecedented enthusiasm for change during the first phase of the 2026 assembly elections. He remarked, “The voter turnout reflects the growing confidence of people in democracy across the nation. I want to congratulate and thank all the voters in Bengal who have embarked on this journey from fear to trust, and I believe the second phase voters will continue this journey.”

In a message to the people of Bengal, Shah said, “A significant part of the country has joined the journey towards a developed India under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership. Your love, enthusiasm, and trust have been evident throughout the campaign, and I believe this trust will translate into votes for the BJP’s victory.”

Amit Shah also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating, “In a state where the Chief Minister suggests that women should not go out after 7 PM, they should not be in power. After the BJP forms the government, a young girl will be able to ride her scooter confidently at 1 AM without fear of any criminal.”

He further added, “As a symbolic gesture, the mothers of victims from RG Kar and the victim from Sandeshkhali have been nominated as candidates. Those who have faced violence from TMC-backed goons will now sit in the assembly and help create stringent laws against such crimes. In the coming days, Bengal will witness this kind of change.”

Before the second phase of voting, Amit Shah urged voters to cast their votes freely and without fear. He stated, “The Election Commission has made excellent arrangements to ensure there is no rigging. Forget the old elections; vote for Bengal’s bright future and help form a BJP government.”
